Our new friend Kassaundra, vis a vis small group, came up with the brilliant idea to make our own website. We spent a ton of time creating it and developing it and put a lot of heart and soul into it. Our original intent was to showcase what we do together and that we're more than a once-a-week group, but that we really bond and share life together. We figured it would give others a better idea of who we were as a group and if it were the right fit for them. It was, however, rejected by Forefront to be advertised on their website.
Forefront doesn't want links taking people away from their site (understandable I guess, as I'm currently in the middle of a website refresh for my work and have dealt with that same issue here), but it's our church community for peace sake. We spent so much time on it and are pretty disappointed. It also affected the way we wrote our "blurb" which they published on the web and in the morning bulletins, and by the time we correct that and made our blurb a bit more robust, week 1 was past. Now week 2 has passed and we realize our book title isn't displayed on the blurb either, which we think has really affected sign ups. Every other group we've led has closed early because it was so full and this time only our returning members have resigned up... we can't see another logical explanation. Oh well. It's still an awesome site and we're still proud of it. And hopefully our family will appreciate it as just another link into our little world here.
